Dr. Jin-Doo Kim Awarded with Medal for Extraordinary Achievement for Decades-long Work for Promoting Board and Paper Technologies
Dr. Jin-Doo Kim has a long and distinguished career in the board and paper industry and is considered as one of the early adopters for new technologies and innovations, both through developing new technologies and concepts himself and by investing in new market innovations. For example, he has been one of the very first, not only in the Korean market but also globally, to invest in several new board and paper machine technologies from Valmet over several decades.
Valmet has been honoured to work with Dr. Kim over the years. Innovative and open-minded customers like Dr. Kim are needed to take the industry and innovations forward. Being a forerunner is not always easy and requires risk-taking. I am truly happy to witness Dr. Kim being recognised with this award.

Dr. Kim currently holds the position of CEO at Ajin P&P Co., Ltd., which is a Korean corrugated board and packaging manufacturer founded in 1975. Ajin P&P values highly the importance of research & development and sustainability and wants to be the leader in the recycling business.
Medal for Extraordinary Achievement
The Medal for Extraordinary Achievement is awarded for a particularly significant act, for example, carrying out and completing an exceptionally demanding project or projects, or for distinguished conduct.
“Dr. Jin-Doo Kim from Ajin P&P with his decades long collaboration with Valmet is a brilliant example of the type of individual who meets the criteria for the Medal for Extraordinary Achievement,” said Maria-Elena Ehrnrooth, Director of Development for International Affairs, Finland Chamber of Commerce, and Deputy Secretary-General, International Chamber of Commerce, Finland, while presenting the award to Dr. Jin-Doo Kim, CEO at Ajin P&P.
“This Medal of Extraordinary Achievement has a very special meaning to me, and it deeply resonates with my working philosophy. At this moment, the circle closes as several decades ago when a friend of mine, working for Valmet, described my way of working saying that there is something extraordinary about how I create new ideas and conduct projects. Now, decades later, I am being rewarded by this exact philosophy and mentality that has been a guiding principle in my career,” Dr. Kim summarised. “Cooperation with Valmet has always been good and we will together continue to develop new technologies and solutions to secure competitive and sustainable board and paper making in the future,” said Dr. Kim.
