Successful Start-up at Liansheng Pulp & Paper’s Coated Board Making Line PM2

Recently, Liansheng Pulp & Paper successfully started up their newest coated board making line PM2. The board machine, with a wire width of 8.85 metres, produces folding boxboard grades and will further strengthen Liansheng Pulp & Paper’s coated board product portfolio and enhance their market competitiveness. The PM2 project is a model example of fast and effective project execution: It took less than 10 months from the installation of the first dryer cylinder to the full machine line start-up.

“I sincerely thank both teams for all their efforts and contributions to the project. During the project implementation, both teams demonstrated proactive planning, efficient communication and close coordination, which ensured the overall progress of the project. One of the key factors in the project’s success was Valmet’s high responsiveness to the start-up target. They strove to coordinate domestic and international project resources and adjusted the delivery schedule, enabling the start-up to happen more than two months ahead of schedule,” said Li Guowei, Deputy General Manager of Industrial Paper Division at Liansheng Pulp & Paper.

“It has been great to witness the successful commissioning and smooth start-up of PM2 by the Liansheng team, along with our project and site teams. The machine started up at a speed of 800 metres per minute and successfully produced its roll of carton board. The PM2 project was built on continuous lessons from previous projects together. At every stage, from design, manufacturing, and delivery to onsite construction and commissioning, the Valmet team worked in close cooperation with the Liansheng team. I also have to say that their project team’s extensive experience is truly admirable,” said Aki Virtanen, Project Manager at Valmet.

“The successful start-up of PM2 would not have been possible without the Liansheng project team’s extensive project management experience and precise control of the key milestones. Sincere thanks to Liansheng’s and Valmet’s hardworking project teams, Valmet’s production units and all the behind-the-scenes heroes who participated in and supported the project! I look forward to even closer cooperation with Liansheng in the future, and to continuous optimisation of PM2 so it can reach full production and speed as soon as possible,” said Hao Tao, Project Manager at Valmet.
