APP Group Unveils “REGENESIS” — A Transformative Suite of Apps to Drive Sustainability, Transparency and Value Across its Value Chain
Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Group has unveiled “REGENESIS,” a transformative suite of applications and initiatives aimed at embedding sustainability, transparency and shared value across its entire value chain. This platform marks a significant evolution in APP’s environmental and social governance efforts, building upon its Forest Positive Policy and responding to growing regulatory and stakeholder expectations. REGENESIS is designed to be more than a digital upgrade—it represents a deep organisational shift toward measurable and verifiable sustainability outcomes.
At the heart of REGENESIS lies an ambitious target: the restoration of one million hectares of degraded land over the next decade. To back this commitment, APP will allocate USD30 million annually toward restoration initiatives. The platform is structured around three core pillars—Forests, People and Value Chain—highlighting its integrated approach. Protecting and restoring forest ecosystems, fostering equitable community engagement, and ensuring traceable, sustainable procurement are central to the initiative.
One of the most notable early achievements of REGENESIS is the transformation of the OKI mill to run on 98% renewable energy, signaling a major step in reducing the company’s operational carbon footprint. The platform also includes a powerful suite of applications: real-time monitoring and traceability tools, supplier impact assessments, a data dashboard for transparent ESG reporting and a community engagement module. These tools are designed to ensure that APP’s no-deforestation commitments, peatland protection and social responsibility goals are not only upheld but verifiably tracked.
Leadership within the company is positioning REGENESIS as a long-term strategic shift. President & Director Andrie Yapsir emphasised that the platform represents a deepening of APP’s previous sustainability efforts, while Chief Sustainability Officer Elim Sritaba stressed the importance of setting measurable sub-goals as the company moves toward its SRV2030 and 2050 targets.
The launch of REGENESIS is particularly significant in light of rising global demands for deforestation-free supply chains, transparent ESG reporting and responsible sourcing. By integrating sustainability into procurement, operations and community engagement, APP not only seeks to reduce environmental and reputational risks but also to create shared socio-economic value. For a company that has faced intense scrutiny in the past, REGENESIS is both a strategic and symbolic step toward long-term resilience and environmental stewardship.
