New Corrugator, New Milestone: VPK Packaging Invests in Sustainable Growth of Corrugated Board Production
VPK Packaging Belgium has taken a major step in its sustainable growth journey: a new 2.80m BHS corrugator has been successfully installed at the Erembodegem site. This investment not only represents a technological upgrade but also a clear promise to our customers: more capacity, better performance, and even stronger customer focus.
Investing in sustainability and innovation
With over 90 years of experience, VPK Packaging continues to invest in the latest technologies. The new corrugator replaces the previous 2.50m machine and was installed in the same location, with minimal disruption to production. Thanks to a well-thought-out plan, smart logistics and the dedication of VPK’s employees, it is able to continue producing boxes even during the seven-week conversion.
This investment is not only a technical milestone but also proof of what internal collaboration can achieve. Our choice for a 2.80m wide machine aligns with our ambition for our site in Erembodegem: growing from 100 to 170 million m² of corrugated board.

What does this mean for VPK’s customers?
VPK’s new BHS corrugator is a state-of-the-art installation that enables it to produce board with:
- Higher quality through advanced glue temperature control
- Less waste thanks to more efficient processes
- Greater reliability via the integrated zero-defect system
- Faster delivery due to increased capacity
“With this upgrade, we can respond faster, deliver better, and produce more sustainably,” added Tony Reunes, Operations Director Corrugated Board BE & NL.
Stronger together: Employees and partners made the difference
VPK’s employees played a crucial role in the success of this project. Their flexibility and commitment made it possible to keep production running during the conversion. Its external partners were also invaluable. Their expertise and involvement accelerated the installation and ensured a smooth start-up. Thanks to the modular setup and the flexibility of the contractors, the milestone was reached ahead of schedule.
VPK continues to invest in the future
Together with the earlier investment in the Bobst 4-colour casemaker in Oudegem, VPK confirms its forward-looking ambition: continuing to invest in technology, sustainability and customer value.
The next step? Activating the dormant volume on the rotary die-cutter. By switching to three shifts, VPK aims to increase finishing capacity to 120 million m² — an important intermediate step toward its goal of 170 million m² for the Erembodegem site.
“This investment marks a strategic step toward higher capacity, better performance and greater customer focus,” said Tony Reunes, Operations Director Corrugated Board BE & NL.
