CorruTec ASIA Rescheduled to Later Part of 2022: New Dates 19 – 22 October
The new dates for CorruTec ASIA – International Corrugated Technology Exhibition for Asia have been set for 19 – 22 October 2022 at BITEC, Bangkok. The move from the original February dates to October was deemed necessary to optimise participation for all involved in view of the on-going ban on large scale events in Bangkok, which is still marked a dark red zone in Thailand. The varied quarantine requirements for returning international travellers are also a considerable factor, making it extremely challenging for stakeholders to plan their participation with confidence and certainty.
A joint collaboration with the Thai Corrugated Packaging Association (TCPA), CorruTec ASIA is a dedicated exhibition for manufacturers and suppliers of machinery, accessories, technology and services from the corrugated and folding carton industries. The inaugural edition of CorruTec ASIA will be held alongside the 8th edition of PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL, and will see the synergies between the two trade fairs continue in driving growth in Southeast Asia for the packaging, printing, labelling and corrugated technology industries.
Commenting on the rescheduled dates, Gernot Ringling, Managing Director, Messe Dűsseldorf Asia, said, “As an inaugural edition of the exhibition, there has been promising international interest from overseas companies, however, due to the fluid travel situation and varying quarantine requirements from country to country, it has been challenging for international companies to confirm their participation ahead of time. We are also working with our partners and trade associations to put essential safety measures in place, because nothing can take the place of face-to-face encounters.”
“Thus, for better planning certainty, we felt in the interest of all involved, moving CorruTec ASIA to the later part of the year together with the other Messe Dűsseldorf Asia trade fairs would be the ideal solution. We also believe that by announcing this ahead of time, it will give ample notice for participants to rework their plans as well as work towards stronger participation at CorruTec ASIA in October against the backdrop of a world transiting to the endemic stage of COVID-19,” Ringling added.
After much deliberation and in consultation with joint organiser – Thai Corrugated Packaging Association (TCPA), Chusak Deetrakunwattanapoen, President, TCPA, said, “The move to October 2022 will also allow all parties involved to better prepare their participation as well as for CorruTec ASIA – offer a stronger platform for the corrugated manufacturing sector. With economic recovery expected, CorruTec ASIA will also be better timed particularly with Thailand’s rising packaging exports, growing e-commerce market and surge in demand for consumer goods and health products driving demand for packaging.”
“We also believe by Q4 2022, Thai companies will be better positioned to do business and global economic growth will generate new demand, thus offering new opportunities for the corrugated packaging industry,” he said.
Thailand is the largest exporter of packaging in ASEAN, with the country’s packaging exports rising to 11.2% year-on-year to USD844.8 million (THB27.7 billion) in the first quarter of 2021.
