Newest Addition to Valmet’s Bioneer Product Portfolio Can Reduce Overall Carbon Footprint of Dryer Fabric by up to 30 Per Cent
Valmet expands its sustainable product portfolio with the introduction of Valmet Dryer Fabric EOS Bioneer and Valmet Dryer Fabric OR Bioneer. The new dryer fabrics are the latest addition to Valmet’s Bioneer family of sustainable solutions, launched in 2025 with press felts.
The new dryer fabrics reduce the carbon footprint of paper machine clothing while maintaining the same proven performance, runnability and reliability as conventional Valmet EOS and OR designs. Dryer fabrics are technical textiles used in the dryer section of a paper machine. They are designed to carry and support the paper web over drying cylinders while allowing controlled air flow and moisture removal. These fabrics are typically very large, reaching up to 90 metres in length and 11.5 metres in width.
Reducing emissions in the paper production value chain is a key priority for our customers. With the new Bioneer dryer fabrics, we can support this transition with a solution that delivers measurable climate benefits without changes in performance.

Lower emissions through a certified and transparent approach
Valmet Dryer Fabric EOS Bioneer and OR Bioneer utilise ISCC PLUS-certified raw materials through a mass balance approach, an established methodology that traces the raw materials in a product’s value chain. Using ISCC PLUS-certified raw materials results in a reduction of the product’s carbon footprint while ensuring full traceability and credibility throughout the value chain. The approach also allows the use of bio-based and circular feedstocks in production without affecting the material’s technical properties.
“The Bioneer yarn used in the fabrics has approximately 40 per cent lower CO₂ emissions compared to conventional yarn. Depending on the product configuration, the overall carbon footprint reduction of the dryer fabric can reach close to 30 per cent,” summarised Katriina Markkula, R&D Manager, Paper Machine Clothing at Valmet.
To ensure transparency, Valmet provides Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data for Bioneer products, enabling customers to quantify the climate impact of their purchases and support their own sustainability reporting.
Proven performance with extended lifetime
The Bioneer dryer fabrics are based on Valmet’s established EOS and OR designs, which are widely used by paper producers globally.
Both designs feature a double warp structure that provides high strength, wear resistance, and longer lifetime compared to conventional solutions. The extended lifetime further supports sustainability targets by reducing material consumption and replacement frequency.
