Cartiera del Vignaletto Completes Cogeneration Plant Upgrade at Zevio Tissue Mill in Italy
Overhaul targets maximum energy efficiency for PM4 and PM5 air systems and steam generation.
Cartiera del Vignaletto has completed an energy-saving project at its facility in Zevio, Italy, featuring a complete upgrade of the cogeneration plant and air systems for the mill’s PM4 and PM5, according to the technology supplier Toscotec.
The upgrade covers the complete rebuild of the thermal power system. The site is equipped with a 5.5MW gas turbine capable of supplying electrical power to both machines. The project enables full recovery of the turbine’s exhaust gas to supply heat to the air systems for both hoods, as well as to generate both high- and low-pressure steam for PM4 and PM5. The entire thermal and air system has been fully redesigned and optimized to meet project performance guarantees.
The two paper machines have a combined capacity of approximately 46,000 t/y, producing high-quality tissue products including facial tissue, toilet paper and kitchen towel. The machines operate at speeds of 1,200 to 1,700m/min and produce tissue paper with basis weights ranging from 15 to 40g/m2.
